11/29/1832 Louisa May Alcott was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania to Bronson and Abigail May Alcott. 1840 The Alcott family moves to Concord, Massachussetts. Lousia is educated by her father and his close friends, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. 1843 Family moves yet again to an experimental commune, known as the Fruitlands. The project failed and the family returns to Concord, two years later. 1849 Writes Inheritance. Written for young people, it would be almost 150 years before is was published. 1854 Her first book, Flower Fables, is published. It was originally written to amuse Ralph Waldo Emerson`s daughter. 1863 Hospital Sketches is published. This work is about her time as a nurse during the Civil War. 1864 On Picket Duty, and Other Tales published. 1864 The Rose Family: A Fairy Tale is published. 1865 Moods, another book aimed at adults, is published. 1866 Writes A Long Fatal Love Chase, which is rejected by her publisher as too sensational and lost. 1867 Morning-Glories and Other Stories is published. 1868 Writes her best known book, Little Women. This book is partly autobiographical, with Jo March being Louisa. This book stands as one of the most popular children`s books of all time. 1868 Three Proverb Stories is published. 1869 Good Wives published. 1870 Old Fashioned Girl published. 1871 Little Men published.
